COQUITLAM – The Coquitlam Foundation’s 125 Legacy Fund received another big boost this week with a major donation of $10,000 from Coquitlam-based Noura Construction Ltd.

“What a tremendous way to wrap up what’s been a year of great growth for the foundation,” said Executive Director Dwight Yochim. “Noura’s generosity epitomizes the community spirit that is shared by Coquitlam residents and the businesses that operate in our terrific city. It’s very much appreciated.”

Jamileh Askarian, Noura’s president and co-founder, said community-building is at the heart of what the company stands for. “As a family-owned and –operated business here in Coquitlam, we have seen how fast the community has grown and have enjoyed being a part of this growth by providing families with quality custom homes,” Askarian said.

“We are honoured to give back to the community by donating to the 125 Legacy Fund. With this donation, we hope to see the community thrive and flourish for generations to come.”

Established in April to mark Coquitlam’s 125th anniversary, the 125 Legacy Fund is designed to enable individuals and groups to both celebrate and enhance the community and, by so doing, leave a legacy for future generations.

Examples of legacy projects that might be funded include: public art; book publications; video productions; musical compositions; restoration projects of benefit to all Coquitlam residents; community infrastructure (gardens, trails, etc.); and commemorative plaques. The new fund was officially sanctioned by the City of Coquitlam’s 125 anniversary office. Earlier this fall, Polygon Homes donated $15,000 to the fund.

The Coquitlam Foundation manages $2.9 million in 29 foundation-directed and donor-advised funds. The foundation always welcomes donations to any of its donor-advised or foundation-directed funds, which can be made through its website,

As well, the foundation invites interested individuals or organizations to consider establishing a fund with the foundation. Individuals and families are also encouraged to think of the foundation when planning legacy and estate donations.

The Coquitlam Foundation is registered with Canada Revenue as a charitable organization, No. 890762347 RR0001.
