New Fund Announcement – Engineered Bodies Continuing Education Fund

Coquitlam, August 5, 2020:  The Coquitlam Foundation is proud to announce a new fund established at the initiative of Engineered Bodies, a strength & conditioning and physical education facility in Port Moody, BC.  Recent events around the world have prompted owners Anthony and Samantha Agtarap to publicly express their values of diversity and inclusion.  They recognize that systemic racism exists and oppresses Black people, Indigenous people and other people of colour. In addition to this new fund with the Foundation, the Agtaraps have set out on a corporate journey to inspire change.

“More than words are needed to change the system. The world needs ACTION to end systemic racism. Change starts with us, both as individuals and as a company,” say the Agtaraps.

Founded in July 2020 by owners Anthony and Samantha, the Engineered Bodies Continuing Education Fund For Social Justice will provide financial assistance to Black people, Indigenous people and other people of colour pursuing post-secondary education in the fields of law or social work, with the goal of amplifying Black and Indigenous representation, perspectives, and voices as they pursue social justice and equality in our society. This fund currently has a principal of less than $10,000, and the Foundation will not be awarding from it until the fund’s principal reaches $10,000, which is expected to happen in no more than four years. Specific eligibility guidelines will be announced as the fund nears this threshold.

To donate to this fund please visit the Coquitlam Foundation’s website and the ENGINEERED BODIES CONTINUING EDUCATION FUND.

As the charitable heart of Coquitlam, the Foundation collaborates with community members, businesses, and local government to encourage people to INVEST in their community. Together we ENRICH and INSPIRE one another, using the earnings on the funds that are created to support important and needed community initiatives for youth, seniors, in health, the Arts, education/literacy, conservation, heritage and the environment. The Coquitlam Foundation was established in 1992 and has an endowment of over $4 million.
