COQUITLAM – Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the Coquitlam Foundation is proud to announce the creation of its 25th donor-advised fund, the Noura Homes Community Fund. Continuing with the “25” theme, not only is it Noura’s 25th anniversary too, but Noura has also set a goal of $25,000 for its fund, which the company seeded with an initial $5,000 donation.
“We do a lot of work in Coquitlam, and we just wanted to give something back to the community,” Noura spokesperson Asana Askarian said. “We’ve been blessed as a family and we’ve always been taught to give back, and the Coquitlam Foundation has given us the opportunity to do so.”
Ms. Askarian, her sister Aram Askarian, and parents Hooshang and Jamileh Askarian were present on Tuesday for the signing of the fund agreement with foundation Chair Janet Toddington. Last year, Noura homes donated $10,000 to the foundation’s 125 Legacy Fund.
“We truly appreciate Noura’s and the Askarian family’s commitment to community philanthropy,” Toddington said. “It’s a wonderful example of how a community-based company can partner with a community foundation to bring to life its charitable goals – goals that will surely benefit the Tri-Cities.”
The new fund’s purpose is to improve the quality of life and provide assistance to residents in Tri-Cities communities by providing financial assistance:
- for and in support of women and children in need and requiring shelter, clothing and food or other support services, and to foster recovery, independence, education, and skills-training to become self-supporting;
- for and in support of those with mental health challenges;
- to students through scholarships for attendance at post-secondary institutions or career training programs, particularly students pursuing training in the construction trades;
- for charitable programs that address a need of residents in the Tri-Cities communities.
