Coquitlam Foundation Charts Bold Path Forward at Annual General Meeting

Coquitlam, BC – The Coquitlam Foundation held its Annual General Meeting at the Poirier Coquitlam Public Library on Thursday, September 25, unveiling a bold new strategic plan. The evening marked a renewed commitment to community-driven philanthropy and long-term impact in Coquitlam.

Re-elected Board Chair Matthew Sebastiani emphasized the Foundation’s renewed focus on legacy-building and strategic growth: “We’re setting the stage for lasting impact through stronger partnerships, deeper community trust, and a clear plan for growth.”

The Foundation’s new three-year strategic plan outlines five key pillars, including an overarching goal of growing investment funds to $15 million by 2028. These priorities reflect the Foundation’s mission to create lasting legacies through strategic philanthropy that supports community initiatives.

Executive Director Carol Brodie added, “This AGM was about momentum. We’re grateful for the fundholders, board members, volunteers, and community supporters who have brought us here and excited for what’s ahead.”

At the AGM, the Foundation recognized outgoing Board Director Marko Pakrojac, who completed his term this year. His commitment to community service was warmly acknowledged by fellow directors.

Incoming Board Director Kathleen Vincent was voted onto the Board at the AGM. With over 25 years of senior leadership in public service, Kathleen brings deep expertise in strategic planning, communications, and civic engagement.

With strong leadership guiding the Foundation’s strategic direction, residents are invited to take part in building a legacy of their own. Starting a fund is a meaningful way to invest in lasting change and ensure continued support for the causes that matter most. These funds generate interest revenue on the principal amount, which is awarded annually in perpetuity, either as scholarships or grants. It’s a powerful way to give back and create a legacy that lives on.

“A fund with the Coquitlam Foundation is more than a donation; it’s a permanent investment in the future of our community,” said Sebastiani. “It’s with thanks to our fundholders for turning generosity into enduring impact in our city.”

As of the AGM, the Coquitlam Foundation Board of Directors for 2025/2026 includes:

  • Matthew Sebastiani, Chair
  • Lois McNary, Vice Chair
  • Jack Trumley, Treasurer
  • Gurj Parmar, Secretary
  • Jennifer McKinnon, Director at Large
  • Kathleen Vincent, Director at Large
  • Craig Woods, Director at Large
  • Steve Kim, Director representing the City of Coquitlam
  • Rosey Manhas, Director representing School District #43 (Coquitlam)

The Foundation’s vision is a thriving community where quality of life is enhanced by its work. Its mission is to create lasting legacies through strategic philanthropy, which guides every decision it makes.
