The Coquitlam Foundation has announced the establishment of a new fund to benefit local residents.
Coquitlam Mayor Richard Stewart signs agreement with Colleen Talbot (centre), chair of the Coquitlam Foundation, and Julie Fisher, vice-chair. Known as the Mayor’s Community Fund, the fund was initiated by Coquitlam Mayor Richard Stewart, who also sits on the board of the foundation, and will be administered by the Coquitlam Foundation.
The fund, out of which $4,000 is being distributed this month, has two goals: to assist needy Coquitlam students; and to distribute grants to institutions or organizations undertaking projects or work, primarily in Coquitlam, that will be of benefit to residents of Coquitlam.
“It’s an exciting and rewarding time at the Coquitlam Foundation,” says Chair Colleen Talbot. “We’re pleased to be able to administer this new fund, which will be of great benefit to Coquitlam residents and organizations. We’re also excited about our upcoming Fall Gala, which is designed to raise even more funds to support our philanthropic initiatives.”
The 2010 Fall Gala, “Laugh Out Loud,” is being held October 22 at Red Robinson Theatre. The evening kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with appetizers, refreshments, silent auction and more. Revelers are encouraged to wear their “loudest” shirts to get into the spirit of the evening.
The action then shifts inside the theatre, where revelers will enjoy premium seats for the 8 p.m. show of comedian Steven Wright. Tickets are $150 each. To order, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 604.468.9598. Sponsorship opportunities are still available, and silent-auction donations are also being accepted.
The Gala is being presented in conjunction with Red Robinson Theatre.
