COQUITLAM – The Coquitlam Foundation has named Dwight Yochim, a Coquitlam resident with an impressive depth of experience in both management and community volunteerism, as its new executive director.
“We are extremely pleased to have Dwight join us as we prepare for our upcoming year of community philanthropy,” says Janet Toddington, chair of the foundation. “He comes to us with a wealth of experience, having held executive director positions in a number of major non-profit organizations. Dwight has also demonstrated his commitment to the Tri-Cities community through his past volunteer work with Coquitlam Search and Rescue [CSAR].”
Yochim, who is also Registered Professional Forester, served as Search Manager of CSAR from 1989-2013. Fittingly, his first official appearance with the foundation was on Nov. 16 to witness the foundation’s presentation of a cheque for $60,000 to CSAR for the completion of its new Mobile Command Centre.
“It is an honour to be part of an organization that not only helps numerous organizations in Coquitlam but, more importantly, the citizens of the city,” Yochim says. “I look forward to rolling up my sleeves and working with the board to continue to the fantastic work they have been doing over the past quarter century.”
The Coquitlam Foundation is planning a gala on April 22 of next year to celebrate its 25th anniversary. In taking the part-time position of Executive Director, Yochim replaces Jill Cook, who has retired.
The foundation manages $2.8 million in 29 foundation-directed and donor-advised funds. The foundation always welcomes donations to any of its donor-advised or foundation-directed funds, which can be made through its website, www.coquitlamfoundation.com. The Coquitlam Foundation is a Canada Revenue Agency-registered charity, No. 890762347 RR0001.
