Steps Together Fund

The Steps Together Foundation was founded in 2011 by the Safaya family of Coquitlam, BC, Canada. The mission of the foundation is to extend financial assistance to youth, as well as provide them opportunities for self-learning and capacity building.

Each member of the foundation values higher education and the role it plays in achieving personal growth. This philosophy has been followed by all three generations of the Safaya family, hence the Foundation pledges to take steps together with youth who have demonstrated a passion for education, a desire for self-improvement, and commitment to community service

Purpose of Fund:

Established in 2012, the Steps Together Fund was created to assist students in need who are a resident of Coquitlam at the time of application, through the provision of financial assistance. This fund may also provide grants to institutions or organizations undertaking projects or work, primarily in Coquitlam, that will be of benefit to residents of Coquitlam. Ravinder Safaya says and he and his wife, Achla Safaya, were inspired to establish the Steps Together Fund by their parents, who placed a high value on education. “What they told all their children,” Mr. Safaya says, “is that education is the key which will help you to progress in life, which will broaden your outlook, and which will give you tools to succeed in any condition. Education is the key to success.”

Eligibility:

Resident in Coquitlam at the time of application, through the provision of financial assistance or institutions or organizations undertaking projects or work,primarily in Coquitlam, that will be of benefit to residents of Coquitlam.

How to apply for this fund:

Each year, between early December and Mid-February, the Coquitlam Foundation accepts applications for its various funds. We will accept applications for this fund at that time through our application process.

How to donate to the fund:

All contributions to this fund are considered charitable donation and as such a charitable donation receipt will be issued.
