Bursary Fund

Domenic Mobilio was a long-time member of the Vancouver 86ers turned Vancouver Whitecaps. He played 14 seasons beginning with the team in the Canadian Soccer League, later joining the American Professional Soccer League, before finishing up a Whitecap. He retired from the professional outdoor game in 2001. Upon retirement, Mobilio worked as a technical director with the Coquitlam City Soccer Association and became a coach of youth soccer in Coquitlam.

The fund’s purpose will be to assist members of the Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club to pursue post-secondary education programs in memory of Domenic Mobilio.

Domenic Mobilio provided inspirational leadership to the Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club and applicants should exemplify those leadership skills. His philosophy is best reflected in the following quote: “It is better to try your best than be the best”. Successful applicants will also have demonstrated their commitment to this philosophy.
  1. Applicants must be under 25 years of age;
  2. Bursaries will be awarded every year to a club member who meets the selection criteria established by the Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club and Coquitlam Foundation;
  3. Applicants must have played for Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club for a minimum of five years, and have a good academic record;
  4. Consideration will be given to students who have demonstrated a commitment to community sport through volunteering at camps, clinics, tournaments and/or events
  5. Equal consideration will be given to applicants of all abilities;
  6. Applicants are requested to share their personal experience, how club values shaped that experience, and how their participation has shaped their personal development.
