Pacific Post Partum Support Society – A Vital Service For Women and Families

In June 2018, the Pacific Post-Partum Support Society  (PPPSS) received a grant for $1000 from the Coquitlam Foundation. This grant helped provide postpartum depression/anxiety telephone support for residents of the Coquitlam area. In the last year, 214 callers who identified themselves as residents of Coquitlam or Port Coquitlam received support from this service. This number does not include anonymous callers, which means the number of Coquitlam residents impacted by their crucial front-line services is likely even higher.

Furthermore, PPPSS created brochures with their free telephone support number and information about postpartum depression and anxiety. 1600 of these brochures were administered to Newport Health Unit in Port Moody to insert into their Tri-Cities new mothers packages.

This is vital work, as the PPPSS is the only organization providing this type of service for post-partum depression/anxiety sufferers in the area.
