The Johnston Legacy Fund

Description of donor:

The Johnston Legacy Fund

Dr. J. Crosby Johnston was one of the founding board members of the Coquitlam Foundation. He is one of the driving forces behind Coquitlam’s request for city status. He was active in the community over the years by serving on committees such as the Committee for the Disabled, the Coquitlam Crime Prevention Committee and served as President of Dogwood Pavilion for two terms.

Purpose of Fund:

Dr. Crosby Johnston established this fund to benefit seniors in Coquitlam, in accordance with the Foundation's Act and as the Board may direct. A senior for such purposes is a person 65 years of age or over, resident in Coquitlam. Monies may be expended on those who cannot meet the usual costs of living; those who are in need of funds to meet a special health problem or for those in need of financial help in compassionate situations, such as for food, clothing, shelter, and special travel needs. Funds disbursed must be directed to a 'qualified donee' (usually a registered charitable organization) who can assist the individual(s) or family as needed.

  • Organizations must be on the Canada Revenue Agency’s List of Charities
  • You need to demonstrate how your project helps seniors as per the purpose.

How to apply for this fund:

Each year, between early December and Mid-February, the Coquitlam Foundation accepts applications for its various funds. We will accept applications for this fund at that time through our application process.
