City Council paid tribute to our retiring chair, Colleen Talbot, last night. And what a wonderful affair it was. With Colleen standing front and centre at the public podium, Mayor Richard Stewart delivered a lovely speech, recounting Colleen's many achievements, not only with the foundation but also with other non-profit charities. He then presented her with a plaque. Then, with characteristic cheerfulness, Colleen expressed her thanks and also quoted from a 20-year-old letter, outlining the steps that led to the founding of the foundation. Former mayor and current councillor Lou Sekora then delivered a heartfelt and laudatory address, thanking Colleen for all she's done for our community. Finally, Wim Vander Zalm, a board member, presented Colleen with a bouquet of flowers. All in all, a most memorable night. Please visit the album on this site to see some photos of the event.
